2 on 2 - November/December

For the months of November and December, PPH will be running a mini 2
on 2 series for 2009 AA/AAA and 2010 AAA players. We are looking for 6
Teams of 5 (30 players - 24 skaters and 6 goalies) to play in a 2 on 2
game every Sunday for 8 weeks. The games will take place at The Hockey
Club in Aurora.

2 on 2 in a small rink offers many great opportunities for players to
grow on the ice. Here are some of the attributes that 2 on 2 works on.

Players:
-Small area experience, offense and defense
-Constant puck battles
-Many 2 on 1’s
-Amazing endurance work
-Scoring in tight
-Quick decision making
-Finding open ice in tight areas
-Competitive

Goalies:
-High volume of shots
-Battling to make saves
-Playing odd man rushes
-Endurance

8 Games over 8 weeks. Games will be 45 minutes run time, and line changes will happen on the buzzer.

Rules

  • Games will be 46 Minutes in length, runtime, with a 2 Minute Warm Up. Periods are 12-15-15 with 2 minute intermissions

  • Shifts will be 1:30. Change on the whistle. Faceoff begins each shift and the puck will not drop until the previous shift is off the ice.

  • After a goal or a goalie stoppage, both players must retreat to center before they may attack again

  • After a goal or goalie stoppage, players must carry the puck past center before they may shoot UNLESS there is 10 seconds or less left in the shift. At this point players may shoot from anywhere.

  • During play, players may shoot from anywhere

  • No slapshots where the wind-up is higher than the waist.

  • Games are non-contact. Rubbing out and pinning are allowed, but body checks are not.

  • Penalties result in a penalty shot. Puck will be dead after the shot.

  • Dangerous penalties could result in missing a full shift (team would play 2 on 1) or remainder of a game. Repeat offenders may be removed from future games. These include but are not restricted to dangerous hits around the boards.

  • A player may not hold the puck behind their goal line for more than 5 consecutive seconds without being pressured. (Penalty Shot)

  • A goalie may not smother an intentional pass from their teammate. (Penalty Shot)

Although we know this will be competitive, the number one goal is for players to have fun. We will ask players to be respectful to one another before, during, and after the games.

For now, only 1 parent per group will be permitted in the building at a time. They are to act as the coach, work the bench and make sure that players are ready on time. We ask that all other parents abide by this rule so that we can continue to use this ice.
